Joy Day Out With Lenovo and Transformer 3

Last week was a busy week for the Text 100 Lenovo team as they prepare for the launch of the slimmest ThinkPad ever, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 at The Apartment, Suria KLCC. The ThinkPad X1 –  the spiritual successor to the also impossibly slim and light X300/X301 – is a svelte 16.5mm thin and weighs a mere 1.72kg.

The ThinkPad X1 is not just all looks and no substance as it’s equipped with a host of innovative features such as a 13-inch screen protected by the tough Corning Gorilla Glass, RapidCharge technology for charging from 0% to 80% in just 30 minutes, a backlit and spill-resistant keyboard, and the Lenovo Enhanced Experience 2.0 for Windows 7 certification that offers up to 20 second speedier boot up times.

Needless to say, most came away impressed when they set their sights on this sexy black beast.

After listening to presentations by the folks from Lenovo and Microsoft which include a quick update by Khoo Hung Chuan, Country General Manager of Lenovo Malaysia, on the state of the business, the media that came that day were then treated to a special screening of The Transformer 3: Dark of The Moon at TGV Cinemas.

The day’s agenda didn’t just end there as well. Later that evening, the Text 100 team also hosted winners of the Lenovo Transformers 3 Movie Giveaway! to be among the first to watch the movie in the country. The Text 100 team managed a contest to give away 25 pairs of tickets two weeks earlier on the Lenovo Malaysia Facebook Fan Page, and it goes without saying that the response was simply overwhelming with over 300 entries received.

Jason Goh aka smashp0p (second from right) was also in attendance as well as he too helped to give away 5 pairs of tickets via Twitter to his rabid and loyal followers a week earlier.

The lucky winners were not only treated to a screening of Transformer 3: Dark of The Moon, but they also enjoyed scrumptious snacks and goodie bags from Lenovo to complete the exciting evening.

It was definitely fun and engaging while talking to the hardcore and loyal Lenovo fans to understand them better. This definitely will not be the last time for us to meet this wonderful bunch of people.

Texties Ate, Drank and Made Merry Over A+M’s AOTY Win

In celebration of our latest epic A+M Agency of the Year win, the office cleared the menial clutter, upped and left at 5PM last Friday, to fritter the evening away at S’mores, a restaurant and pub @ The Sphere, Bangsar South.

When we Texties celebrate, we bring out the big guns. Instead of the customary Moet & Chandon champagne this time round, we ordered shot after shot of the toxic kind to fete our recent successes:

1. The first of many “Agency of the Year” wins

2. Mei Ling’s awesome and exemplary leadership

3. Corina’s and Vicky’s promotions to Account Director and Senior Account Manager respectively

4. Welcoming the noobies (just for the heck of it)

Needless to say, the booze (and cam-whoring activities) were on free flow all night long with nasties like sambucas, flaming lamborghinis, tequila shots, absinthe and jagerbombs topping the list.

Mei Ling, Corina, Thomas, Jay, Dannie and even Vicky all fell victims to Lee’s, Blake’s and Min’s devilish masterminds as they conspired to bring in glass after glass of lethal concoctions to knock everyone out!

That’s it, Mei Ling, suck it hard.. harder now..

Yes Jay, we expect you to kanpei everything, flames and all.

Vicky’s first absinthe (of the night..ever) which she bravely chugged and hurled, along with dinner.

But wait.. the party just got started. After having decided N’more at S’mores, the restless Texties decided to take the second part of the celebration to Milk Club, Bangsar where they continued to grind (and then some) through the night.

Except for Min, we Texties still look perfect even when sloshed.

We partied so hard some of us refused to go home, as evident by Radiance’s and Vicky’s plastered faces. What a night! Three cheers to you, Texties for being the best agency, both in town and in style!

Our APAC Digital Lead David Lian scooped the award for “Excellence in Digital Collaboration” at the recent EXC1TE Awards, a testament of his leadership in digital innovation and ideation with partners, clients and fellow Texties across the region.

The APAC EXC1TE Awards recognizes exemplary Texties for embracing digital, demonstrating leadership and contributing to operational excellence around the region, and winners automatically qualify towards the Global EXC1TE awards later this year.

Congrats to David and also our other Texties Jay , Lee, Min, Intan and Corina who were fellow nominees at this round’s APAC EXC1TE Awards.

TEXT 100 Malaysia: PR Agency of the Year 2011

Last night as we left the office for the A&M Agency of the Year Awards Night some of us were feeling confident whilst others were hopeful but just didn’t want to jinx it….

We honestly didn’t know what to expect as this was the first time we had been shorlisted and invited to enter the AOTY Awards where eligibility is based on a survey of client marketers’ agency preferences in Asia. Shortlisted agencies were then invited to submit an entry to be judged by a panel of senior marketers.

As the night progressed and we sat through the Markies Campaign Awards, which we sadly didn’t win, I began to get more and more antsy.  I think I didn’t really know how much I wanted us to be crowned PR Agency of the Year until the announcer recapped the finalists which included local agencies and international firms such as Edelman, Weber, H&K, G2 and Ogilvy.  I literally started shaking as I didn’t want us to win the Bronze or the Silver.  Nothing but Gold would do!

I closed my eyes and wished really hard and when Gabby called out Text 100, the whole table erupted with cheers and hugs.  As we all went up on stage to collect the little golden cube, we were all grinning.  I really felt validated as the judging criteria was based on 4 key elements that I believed we excelled at as an office:

  1. Business Performance (30%)
  2. Project Performance (30%)
  3. Staff Stability (15%)
  4. Vision and Leadership (25%)

It’s been an amazing journey the last 5 years and I would like to recognise every Malaysian Textie (past and present) who contiributed to our success as an agency, made this a great place to work and delivered all the top notch work to our clients.

Special shout out to Vicky, Lee and David who have stuck with me right from the start when we first opened our doors.  Also to Min whose great leadership helped cement our leading position.  Kudos to Lee for slaving over the winning entry!

I love you guys. Onwards and upwards!

Social Workshop - Explore, Share and Create

In line with the kick off of our Digital Certification Program across all of Text100 offices, Text100 Malaysia ran a 2 hour Social Workshop - Explore, Share and Create by our Malaysia Digital Lead Ridhuan for all the Malaysian staff on 24 June 2011. The workshop geared up the team to explore and share how they have been using social media and sharing some of their favorite sites and content online with the rest of the team, and boy it was sure fun and unexpected indeed. The workshop also updated online influencer relations information, social media engagement policy and finally the team was also introduced to Netvibes - to create their own personal dashboard and delve into richer content management and sharing.

It was a great session, with lots of laughs, insights and inspired the team as we embark on a new journey of digitalization in holistic communications.

We had lost to share, below are the stuff we found interesting online :) do share them!
